In 2016-2018 the kratom planting craze was on! Just a few short years later, the market is now flooded with horrible quality. As of now, there is so much opportunity for discounted poor kratom everywhere you look. The main problem is the horrendous quality. You do not want immature kratom and unfortunately, most of the kratom on the market is pretty piss poor. The really good stuff is actually extremely rare.


What A Young Plantation Looks Like

Truthfully, any tree under 7 years of age is a crapshoot when aiming for premium quality. Additionally, there are many factors that can contribute to a bad product. For example, any tree with leaves that grow for 120 days or less is sub-par at best and is most likely just plain terrible. You can bet, if you do not regularly consume this leaf and you don’t know the difference between top shelf and bottom shelf, you most likely buy from one of those underwhelming plantations. The cold hard fact is in, sporting trees from 2016 and on, makes the trees at most 3 years old. That, in turn, makes your product, garbage. 



But wait! There is a caveat. But, not a good one. Rarely, some skilled farmers can on occasion get “passible” products from a 3-4-year-old tree. I said “passible” and by that, I mean inferior but marketable. But, even that “okay” product grown IS NOT the product you will ever be getting when you purchase from them. So, even the farmer’s best product will be inaccessible for you as a buyer. Follow me here and let me repeat this; the results of marketed lab tests are not the product you will be receiving if you make a purchase from a plantation owner or even a domestic vendor for that matter. The select trees are only grown for “show”. They only grow those coddled trees to submit for lab tests. They then utilize the results from those tests to fool prospective buyers. They show tests for different products so you will buy their garbage. Essentially manipulating the buyer by showing them dishonest lab tests from a product that they will never receive.


This is how they do it. They will grow one or two trees in a perfect environment and harvest it only twice a year (which increases the visible lab results). Those trees are only grown to manipulate test results! This practice is extremely popular. As a matter of fact, be wary of anyone that will push lab tests to the forefront of their marketing. Even US vendors that wield lab tests are usually lying. We personally haven’t met another vendor that publishes lab results for the current product they offer. It doesn’t happen.

Honestly, a lab test is just a way to convince a buyer into purchasing a product. Astonishingly, the product they eventually buy is never tested. They treat one or two trees differently just to make a passing (not impressive) grade for the “dog and pony show”.


We will now outline the most shameful practice that exists. We will tell you the reason that you can’t find a great product. Most plantations only let their leaves grow for 14-30 days before harvesting them and rushing them off to the buyer. This is atrocious. This is greed running a market and not passion. A premium leaf has to mature for at least 120 days. You should be able to ask and receive an answer to that question. Please ask your current vendor how long the leaves are grown before harvesting. If your supplier doesn’t know how long the leaves of a product has been grown, you need to run away. Run fast. At Re-leaf LLC, we think growth should happen for at least 6 months (rare to find) or more and we make sure your leaf is mature. We know all the best methods to process this miracle tree. As a warning, you must also be ready to spot forged lab tests. We at Re-leaf LLC spot faked lab tests every month. We utilize Photoshop to zoom in and use filters to spot fakes. If you aren’t doing that, don’t be surprised if you’ve been fooled. Easily manipulating lab tests either by forging or false representation happens at a high rate. Lab tests are the worst judge of product quality or contamination and they promote bad practices in this industry. As for lab testing for contamination, well, that is just unnecessary and I’ll tell you why. The true way to have clean products is through industry-standard test kits. We can currently test for yeast, mold, fungi, salmonella, e-coli and 9 different metals in our production facility. 

How many tomato farmers do you think would be in business if they had to lab test each tomato tree? That is very silly. That is why it doesn’t happen. This is an example of why the people who push lab testing do NOT have your best interest in mind. Lab testing is a lazy and actually, less clean way to officially declare your product clean.

In reality, responsible vendors (like us) have contamination tests “in house” and can test any small-batch they want. Think about the logistics. Lab testing only one 10g sample out of a 1 to 5-ton harvest is a disgusting trend. Companies must be able to test small batches frequently and quickly. When you actually think it out, there is no way you can deny that lab testing is more a useless tactic than a necessity. Testing many small batches whenever you want, is such a better method than testing a tiny sample out of tons of products. On-site testing is an economical way that will promote cleaner practices and the other method is backed by lazy companies with big money that play a dishonest game. Big money, lab test sporting companies want to push out the small farmers and businesses while condensing the industry down to a handful of big-money players. They have “gamed” the system. The lying vendors will do one test for an absurd amount of product and then they chalk it up as “clean and ready to go”. Those same vendors can show you one fake lab test to represent a large amount of their menu. Consequently, they will post lab results online and market them to anyone that will hear the lies. Paying for a b.s. seal of approval and sadly most of the industry eats it up. 

But guess what? An enthusiastic vendor and kratom lover, like us, can test for contamination on-site, whenever we want. A vendor like us will purchase for quality and the price doesn’t matter. We will only order very small batches at a time, from each vendor to ensure quality and consistency. Holding all of our suppliers accountable. We utilize a network of kratom suppliers from 35+ areas in Asia by purchasing many times a month. Our testing panel will personally try the product and test each of the products. Our sources know we give each product our full attention. They know our reputation and in turn, send us a very high-quality product. We hold them accountable and they also know we have in house testing for contaminants. Which also enforces them to continue their clean practices.

Contamination is a non-issue with a vendor like us. However, plantations are far more likely to have dirty or pesticide sprayed products. Acres and acres of young plantation trees being harvested are far more contaminated than wild ORGANIC trees. Plantation leaves are most likely plucked way too early by a gloveless worker who is only getting paid $10 a day. Possibly being handled by unwashed, ungloved hands that will not be held accountable for their actions. Our wild trees are usually handled by our “hunters” overseeing every part of the process. Plantation harvesting is a scheduled job that takes days to finalize. During each harvest, only one sample will be selected to be contamination lab tested. Out of tons and tons of products, only one little tiny sample will be tested. The plantation owner cannot afford to have that sample test positive so you better believe that it will be “cherry-picked”. One itty bitty preselected sample out of a huge harvest. Not the product that is touched by many people over days and days, the product that the rest of the batch consists of. Low paid people processing the product, touching that product, breathing on that product. Possibly processing a 10-ton harvest and only testing a handpicked 10g sample from a coddled specimen. The fact is, lab testing is a gross corruption of our kratom selling system. A responsible vendor like us can potentially test every single 20 kilo brick from Indonesia by using in house testing while utilizing a panel of quality testers. Other vendors test a tiny sample out of tons.

Where do you find quality? We find it in the old trees that will produce the alkaloids needed for a truly superior specimen. 

Unfortunately, the market is packed full of plantation trees with young trees and young leaves. Fooling a lazy buyer who knows nothing about kratom is quite easy. That ignorant buyer that knows nothing about kratom will buy a freight container full of horrible, cheap products and then pass it off to you. Let’s dig a little deeper into what we actually do. In short, we hunt down older trees that are harvested in the wild and processed correctly. We can confidently say that we source better than anyone in the world. We spend countless hours looking for those rare and limited batches. Hours being constantly put in, that our competition doesn’t put in. We stock old trees that will absolutely obliterate the quality of a younger tree. The good thing about kratom is that good production and processing can significantly increase the quality of a product. Clean production and a company that will make sure that your product is contaminant-free is the only way to go.

Now, on to more reasons we are better than everyone else. While most vendors will find only one source and then offer it to you. That is far from us! We have an obsession with finding every great product in the world and trying to get it on our menu. We specialize in wild, small-batch, older trees that are harvested and processed correctly. Honestly, COD is the smartest way to do business if you are a lazy, cheap business owner. The reason people do this is simple, they are scared to lose money. The reason why the buyer doesn’t receive a good product is simple, the shippers won’t send their good products to someone who hasn’t paid in full. Lazy buyers are purchasing HUGE amounts of powder at one time and plantation owners have fields of immature trees to happily supply the demand. The buyers don’t trust the importing process or the salesman. So, COD protects tens of thousands of dollars and also entices them to purchase. The shipper can easily grow back the leaf in as little as 7 days, but the buyer cannot grow back the money. In COD, the shipper assumes the risk. By the way, for those of you still scratching your head, 50/50 COD is 50% upfront and 50% on delivery. 50/50 COD is also a popular form of payment because each side assumes half the risk. Any shipper offering an unlimited amount of kratom with any kind of COD is scamming you with crap products. I think you can see how easy that is.

Think about this. Kratom is so hard to understand that most people see a lab test and just agree to a low price on a COD and agree to buy a couple of month’s worth of product. This is how it works. In the end, you pay for what you get and you didn’t pay upfront so you get essentially get garbage. Are you beginning to realize our worth yet?

Now let’s talk about border issues in the US. No not the “Buld A Wall; problem. The Importing issues. It is no secret, there are definitely confiscation issues and also so many other things that can go wrong. But luckily, we pay more. We ship smaller shipments. We test every product. We hold each seller accountable by giving bonuses to great products and we fire anyone who gives us bad products. We have many different shipping techniques. We avoid most confiscation issues by using different addresses, different names and switching shipping services. Even if we do lose product it usually is only in 20-kilo increments. It does happen. October, 2019 we lost out on 260 kilos due to a couple of different issues. It happens. Often. That is why importing is so tough. Taking this type of hit is never easy. Luckily with us, we buy many small batches. So, even though we do go through our fair share of hurdles, we only lose 20 kilos at a time most of the time. It is the price of doing business with our brains and not our wallets. Nobody else does business like us. 

We have established the best network of suppliers in the world and our reputation in Asia propels potent products our way. Nobody wants to be caught selling us bad products. As a matter of fact, a lot of Asian sellers often use our company to boast to each other! In the first year of our sourcing, we would get balked at by most Asian suppliers. It is very unusual for a buyer to purchase from two or more people. It was absolutely groundbreaking for someone to purchase from 50+ vendors. In the beginning, they would say things like, “Why do you ask so many questions?”, “Other vendors just buy and don’t ask this many questions.”, “Why do you buy from so many people? Everyone else finds one quality source and buys often”  etc. Now, heading into year 4 we are very well known for our tough stances. We don’t stop looking either and never let the product go unchecked, holding every supplier accountable. We have spoken to almost 1000 world-class foreign suppliers, and our panel has tried 720 to 800 harvests, we have purchased from almost 100 sources, and have gotten samples from over 500 people. We still to this day spend an average of about 15 hours a week looking for great batches. Each harvest must go through perfect conditions to achieve premium status. The truth about the quality is dependant on the relationship between us and the suppliers. We make sure to ask about all the variables we need to know to guess if a batch is perfect or not. On average, we spend about 780 hours of hunting products each year. The competition gets one source and crosses their fingers ordering huge plantation harvests.

Did you know that it’s not the area of the harvest that makes a product good? There are so many variables needed to be known to make a great professional guess from thousands of miles away.

Often times you will have a customer ask things like, “Do you have Jong Kong? Only Jong Kong works for me.” Or “Bali is the only thing that works for me”. Number one, this is insanely stupid. There are many reasons why this is dumb. Even the folks that say things like ” I only like Hulu Kapuas product” is silly (stupid). Did you know that harvesting products during the monsoon season is a sure-fire way to get a bum product? And every region goes through serious flooding at the least once a year. The fact is, the time of the year is something that can dictate quality. The monsoon season can hurt kratom harvesting. While you can find great products during the rainy season, you have to depend on your trustworthy network. The leaves grow at a faster rate and will be harvested too early unless the harvester has a journal of their harvesting and keeps track of the exact harvest dates of exact leaves. Most harvesters go off of sight and since the leaves look bigger they will pick them too early and it will not be as good as a matured leaf. Fortunately for us, we have established a network of elite-level producers… if they aren’t paying attention to exact leaves, we will not buy from them during monsoon season. So, if you blindly order from one area you are guaranteed to order crap at least once. This is why asking questions and knowing your stuff is so important when sourcing products. There is also a secret to finding good products during the rainy season. But, that took the owner Joe, 3 years to figure out and he will go to the grave with the information.

The truth is:  Strains as you know them do not exist. This next part can severely complicate your ideas or marketing plans. But, rest assured you can easily label strains with regions and colors even though there might be evidence against the common thought. If your someone who is happy to be lied to I suggest you skip ahead — 

Two things influence the structural formation of any given mitragyna speciosa plant: genetics and environment. The plant’s genetic makeup, also called a genotype, acts as a blueprint for growth: it allows a spectrum of physical possibilities, but it is up to the environment to induce these characteristics. The physical expression of a genotype is referred to as a phenotype, which is simply defined as the traits that the environment pulls out from the plant’s genetic code. The market refers to different phenotypes as “strains” or “regions”. Unfortunately, we have no scientific method to identify “strains” and products representing “regions” are also misleading the consumer. There are many different phenotypes growing in any region. There is no standard way to separate kratom phenotypes from each other so the consistency represented in the commercial market is a fallacy. It is a lie. Using that fact we can assuredly deduce that most mitragyna speciosa “regions” or “strains” are completely fabricated names.


The market is flooded with misinformation regarding “strains” and “regions.” Why? Well, because people need consistency when ordering or they get confused and indecisive. So, instead of telling people that kratom is inconsistent and there are no guarantees, they have convinced the market there are different effects that are displayed with each unique term made up. The Indonesians first introduced the fake labeling of mitragyna speciosa products with the advent of the term “Maeng Da.” The term “Maeng Da” is a slang term used in Thailand NOT a term that can separate types of mitragyna speciosa. There are no biological markers in any of the current terms used in the market. Terms like Borneo, Thai, Maeng Da, Horn, Vietnam, Etc. are terms made up to convince the consumer that there are unique products offered that do different things. 

Specializing In Wild Trees

There are unique products out there, as a matter of fact, every kratom harvest has multiple unique alkaloid sequences that can come from it. Just like a snowflake, each kratom tree can offer multiple unique properties in its leaves. Let’s use common sense and think about this. Basically everything affects the alkaloid sequence in a product. For example, a leaf receiving more sunlight and water at the top of a tree will have a slightly different alkaloid sequence then a leaf at the bottom of a tree that resides in a different setting. Even the drying processes can induce a unique product. So many variables can change during the harvest of each tree. Depending on the tree only 20-150 kilos come off of one tree.

What we are saying, is that nobody knows the actual names of each product and the consistency represented through fake name by other companies is not reality. The use of fake terms has produced a mass manipulation that is unlike anything ever seen before. It almost seems as if common sense and analytical thinking is going extinct. Anyone who uses deductive reasoning when analyzing the kratom labeling can easily notice that something fishy is going on. Down the line, people should start questioning things. Honest marketing is next to impossible though. So while we sell this product different than anyone else. We recommend you understand the market before making the decision on how to label your products. Remember, you can still market and sell things based on market norms. But, our first aim is to arm you with the knowledge no other vendor is giving you.  

Now, to clarify the effects of this leaf… We believe the effects of this leaf are being misunderstood. There are many different reasons to ponder why the leaf does what it does. We think a simple theory to strongrr product is what we call, “FTE”. Which is the First Try Effect. A lot of times when someone tries a kratom variety for the first time, they will receive the strongest experience they will ever have with that particular phenotype. We aren’t sure why, but it seems as if,  introducing a different alkaloid percentage to someone seems to inspire a stronger kratom experience. Those stronger experiences, also tend to be recalled easier by our memory and then we believe the stronger experiences tend to define the reality in which people perceive the kratom. To confuse things even further, there are different drying techniques that create different colors of powder that in turn, might create different experiences. We, however, do not believe in the color theory as much as most vendors. We believe in pure products. At Re-leaf LLC we often ask for the less fermented products, so most of our products (not all) are green in color. Fermentation increases the chance of salmonella and e-coli tenfold so we are not fans of reddish colored product. We see very little advantages to coloring a product by fermentation. The market is filled with so many different coloring or drying techniques. Most suppliers have their proprietary methods to color products. We believe the actual color of the powder isn’t something that dictates the effects. The hue of the powder is different than the “vein”.

Great Old Kratom

Sometimes you will hear the words, “white vein, red vein, or green vein”. This vein is referencing the stem color of the plant. In our opinion, in quality kratom, the actual vein color has nothing to do with the effects that you might experience. But no worries, we still separate the product on our menu by the veins. We do not recommend you try to communicate this to a customer. Most of you will want something easy to understand, even if it isn’t true. The vein color might have little to do with the results you experience. Remember, the powder color is different then the vein color. The vein color is either, light green, very light green (yellowish), dark green or red. Actually the only published scientific opinion about this indicates that all the mitragyna speciosa on today’s market is structurally similar and shouldn’t be producing polarizing effects based on the vein or the leaf, for that matter.  Also when trying to work through the fact that “veins” are different than the actual color of the leaf, you should know that all powder should be green at its purest form! Very little of the actual stem and veins are used in the final powder, so in theory, every pure powder should be green in color. The industry has fooled the consumers by unnaturally coloring the powder by using proprietary drying techniques to change the hue of the product. Common sense indicates that all powder should be green. I mean just sit there and think about it. The leaf is 95% green! 

I must emphasize that even if you know this information because we have given it to you, it is nearly impossible to try and tell someone this information because of the amount of misinformation that is already out there. If you are reselling this product we advise you to continue convincing customers that colors can separate effects, just to avoid any tough conversations. We are the only vendor we know that will promote this idea and it is incredibly hard to communicate. 

Quality kratom is easy to sell though. Especially ours. Mitragyna speciosa, in general, is extremely similar in its alkaloid structure between its phenotypes. The actual plant itself doesn’t have major differences in the 40 or so alkaloids inside each leaf. Science has proven this. Leaving the difference in effects peculiar to an onlooker. We believe in a couple of reasons kratom can differ from one another. The first might be the most controversial. We suspect that certain effects can be enhanced or even created by what we know is called  “the placebo effect” and also by folks independently processing each alkaloid different from one another. We believe each person individually processes each alkaloid differently. So, in theory, each result will be unique, every time. The exact results are not necessarily a result of the leaf, as much as it is being a result created by the way each individual processes each of the many alkaloids. We believe the reason there are extreme differences in kratom is how each person reacts to each alkaloid. The placebo effect also plays a big role. That is why the market offers so many different varieties. Because they separate the effects by the supposed strains thus propelling the placebo effect. Suppliers believe the consumers have simple minds and instead of having one product to sell, they offer a limitless amount of options, different “strains” and even different colors. We really do believe that people have strong placebo effects. If the name of the kratom entices the buyer to believe they will get tired, then they might, in fact, get tired, sometimes this has little to do with the actual leaf as well as much as the power of persuasion, also known as the placebo effect. We find that people with positive mindsets actually have a more enjoyable experience. So when you take away the easiness of labeling (ie: reds for sleep, whites for energy etc.) anxiety will go up thus the effects will not be as pronounced. We believe this is a very real thing. So, labeling your kratom is important if you intend to resell this.

So, we will always give you the regions and the colors of the product upon request to make it easier for you. Our reputation for details has carried our name throughout Indonesia. Suppliers actually have been known to convince local (Asian) vendors to purchase their product by dropping our name. While we forbid anyone from talking about us, these things happen from time to time. And, how cool is that? Every time we hear that we get mad that people spread our information, we also grin at how awesome our reputation is in Indonesia. When people say “Re-leaf LLC buys my product.” That means something to people who are in this industry. It is just what we have worked hard for.

Now on to the trees themselves! We look for wild, organic, well managed trees. A big old wild tree (50-80 ft tall) will produce a limited amount of product. It is simple physics. Most people don’t actually think about the trees that this product comes from. One of those trees may be only able to produce 40-150 kilos of powder from that tree. Someone would be lucky to have 3 or 4 of those size trees in one area. Rarely, people are lucky enough to have more than that. But, that is very rare. This product takes devotion to keep a consistently high-quality product stocked.

We are currently paying “kratom hunters” to find these trees and negotiate with the landowners to harvest. Do you see how different our sourcing is? We are nothing like you have ever dealt with? We try very hard to be the best we can be for you!

Now, as for extremely premium products… it would ideally be harvested at the preferred rate of twice a year. And with this weird product, both of those harvests may be of differing quality. This is why it is so important to rely on a vendor for direct product reports. You will never get the same product twice. If someone tells you that you will get the same product and it’s a different harvest, you just need to stop buying from them altogether. Every harvest could be unique. 

When we run into an extremely unique and strong product, we have some buyers that would buy 25 kilos of “off the chain” product at $10k. Seriously, if you are trying to buy volume products from us, you need to be realistic about who we are, what we do and the differing quality that is available. You need to realize that there are levels to this product. We always strive to be transparent so no worries about trust. As for price, we have you covered there as well. Luckily we are VERY fair. So no worries. We definitely don’t want to come off as arrogant. But, we work hard to have the quality we provide and we will never give it away.

As for the bad quality, you can bet we will NEVER provide anyone with a “Dollar Store” quality. Not even for a dollar store price. If we ever happen to land that garbage product, we immediately fire the source, throw out the product and never look back. We can, however, provide you with many different levels of quality. For instance, we provide four different levels of quality. We like to explain it like this. A Walmart quality at a Walmart price, a Nike quality at a Nike price or a Prada quality at a Prada-like price.. and occasionally we will land an even better diamond-like quality with a tad more expensive price. And you can bet throughout all those levels we will have the best prices and consistency you will find in the entire world. We list our premium products $400-$440 a kilo. But we regularly offer insane quality for prices as low as $110 for a kilo. Our product is sourced differently than most products and we have a quality and price for everyone. So, when people compare our premium prices with others, it makes us cringe a little. We die a little bit when someone downplays our quality and our business model before becoming a customer, trying our product and understanding what we do. We literally hunt down great batches of kratom continuously. It is our obsession.

Just to give you an insight, for example, out of 5 tons of great products purchased (we don’t sell “Dollar Store” stuff) . We would probably land 10-to 25 kilos of the diamond level, RARE product, about 2 tons of Prada quality, 2 tons of Nike quality, and about a ton of Walmart like quality. I’m not talking about a normal operation where we randomly get products. We know what we get when we get it. We look for it, find it, and buy it. 

As for diamond quality, I am talking about a product that is so rare that most people on the globe haven’t ever had it before. Actually those products are always sold before I get it or stocked on our website as a limited batch. So, using the word RARE is an understatement. Even our Walmart quality is most likely better than 99.9% of any product in the world so even if you spend $110 on a kilo, you can bet your bottom that particular product will still make a tadpole slap an alligator. That is a joke by the way.
